Women in Architecture NJ – Meeting Update

November 7, 2012

Reading Time: < 1 minute

We hope that everyone is safe and getting back to their normal routine with power, heat and hot water.

Thank you to everyone who made our first meeting a huge success.  We gathered architects, and allied professionals to review the goals for Women in Architecture NJ.  We reviewed mission statements of other successful WIA groups followed by a round table discussion to help shape the future of the group.  We asked attendees to contribute ideas for discussion topics, events, and meeting formats.

Mentoring, networking and leadership played a huge role in shaping our topic list.  Event suggestions included a dynamic kickoff event for Spring 2013, as well as architectural walking tours.  Meetings will be held on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:00pm at various venues around NJ.  Women volunteered for group openings including board membership, mission statement development, managing social media, gathering presenters, event coordination, recruitment and sponsorship.

Our next meeting will be held on November 27th at 6:00pm at 10 North Park Place, 4th Floor, Morristown, NJ.

Please feel free to email me for more in depth meeting notes, questions, or if you’d like to volunteer.

Best wishes on a swift and safe recovery.  We look forward seeing you at our next meeting.
