AIA Jersey Shore Loses Mentor, Friend, Frank J. Tomaino Jr., AIA

It is with great sadness that we inform our members that we have lost one of our colleagues.  Frank J. Tomaino Jr., beloved member of the AIA Jersey Shore community, passed in his sleep over the weekend.

Frank J. Tomaino, Jr., age 77 of Oakhurst, died on July 14, 2018 at home. Born in Long Branch, he had lived in Deal and Long Branch before coming to Oakhurst 15 years ago. Frank was the founding partner at Tomaino, Tomaino, Iamello and Associates Architects and Planners in Deal. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects; the Amerigo Vespucci Society, The Long Branch Chamber of Commerce and was a volunteer for Holiday Express.

Surviving is the love of his life, Patti Delaney; his son, Christopher Tomaino; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Gia and Matthew Dunn, Amy and Greg Glassberg; his brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Aporn Tomaino; his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Kendall, Lucy, Max and Carolyn; Patti’s son, Kane Delaney and his wife Alyssa and his Golden Doodles, Louie and Bones.

A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, July 18 from 4 pm until the time of the Celebration of Life at 7:30 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave in Long Branch.

In memoriam, AIA New Jersey will be making a donation to the AIANJ Scholarship Foundation in Frank’s name.
