Building a Place for History: the New Jersey History & Historic Preservation Conference

June 8, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 7:00 pm

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Building a Place for History, the New Jersey History & Historic Preservation Conference, is the annual state-wide educational and networking opportunity for professionals and volunteers in the fields of architecture, planning, heritage site and museum management, public history, archaeology, municipal preservation commissions, county heritage offices, developers, students, and more.

This year is going to be an exciting and packed two-day event in Paterson, home to Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park.

On June 7, take your pick of local walking tours, a bus tour of Dutch-American architecture, or a workshop on telling African American History. Following that will be the New Jersey Historic Preservation Awards and the Opening Reception at the Hamilton Club with guest speaker Leonard Zax of the Hamilton Partnership for Paterson.

June 8 is the main day of conference sessions at Passaic County Community College, featuring a morning plenary panel discussion on the future of historic preservation, 16 educational sessions, walking tours of Paterson’s commercial historic district, marketplace and vendor exhibits, and a student poster competition.
AIA credits have been approved and AICP credits are pending for select sessions.

Early registration discount ends April 30.

Visit the conference website at www.njpreservationconference.org for details and to register.
