“I was born in El Salvador and came to the United States thanks to my mother’s sacrifice. I was nine, fleeing the extreme violence of the civil war that lasted 12 years, and the terror that was lived on a daily basis. I overcame the nightmares that the war imposed on me, and once in this country my mother guided me in order for me to go to college, and become an Architect.
I sought to persevere in my studies while working a part-time job; graduated with honors from the City College of the City University of New York and received a B Arch. I have been specializing in Healthcare Planning and Design for nineteen years. Architecture to me is a career of servitude, as the built environment will serve the end users, and in Healthcare it becomes part of the healing process.
I was privileged to attend my first AIA convention this year in NYC. It was very exciting! I took advantage of great seminars. Although life has thrown many curves in my direction, my goal is to become a registered Architect in the not so distant future. I look forward to continuing to grow and become a mentor and inspiration for others.”
