AIA Central New Jersey Presents Over 100 Years of History at Their 2025 Annual Meeting

October 14, 2025

In recognition of the 125th Anniversary of AIA New Jersey, the AIA NJ Historical Archives Committee proudly presents The History of AIA Central New Jersey.

Researched and presented by Elina Shchervinsky, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, this presentation explores the complex and rich history of AIA Central New Jersey — one of the six Sections of the American Institute of Architects New Jersey Chapter — from its origins in 1923 to the present day.

The program explores Central’s extensive archives, featuring photographs, newspaper clippings, and historical records. The data highlights Central’s origins, its contributions to the architectural profession in New Jersey, and its influence on events of local, state, and national significance.

In addition to historical milestones, the session will spotlight the leadership, advocacy, and community engagement that have defined Central’s legacy and shaped its role within AIA New Jersey. This program is especially relevant for those interested in architectural history, biographical insights, and the development of professional leadership.
