Course Description:
Join us for an interactive exploration of the science and craft behind light’s impact on artwork, color, and finishes.
Using art as our example and starting with basic lighting techniques and recommendations for lighting various types of work, attendees will experience how changes in key attributes impact the perception of color to create a desired impact. Subsequently, we will showcase the expanded experiential possibilities the latest lighting and control technology can create to ensure that each space is always shown in its best light.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify and explore how to manipulate the inherent qualities of lighting for artwork
- Describe how the human eye perceives color and how light impacts our perception
- Analyze standard techniques for lighting different types of art
- Explore the impact of modern lighting technology and controls on art
Presenter: Greg Barrett
With an MFA in Architectural Lighting Design from Parsons School of Design and over 15 years of lighting & control industry experience, Greg Barrett knows the power of light to influence our perception, emotions, and health. His experiences include control integration, lighting design, product management, market education, and through it all sharing his passion for light with others.
