AIA Convention Recap – New Jersey & Chicago

July 2, 2014

Reading Time: 2 minutes

A number of AIA-NJ members just returned from an inspiring few days at the AIA National convention in Chicago.   In addition to continuing education seminars, engaged keynote speakers and a large expo floor the city had so much to offer a group of architects.  With architecture from a wide range of styles and time periods, architects did not have to go far to see a lot.

In addition, delegates representing AIA-NJ and all six local sections attended business meetings and events necessary for AIA to continue being a viable organization for all members.  Future leaders were elected – Congratulations to 2015 First Vice President & 2016 President-Elect Russell Davidson, FAIA, and the other new members of the AIA board.  See the list here.

The new governance model was approved by a vote of the delegates as part of Repositioning, what for more information on how this will happen over the next year.  The overview is on AIA’s website, click here.

New initiatives were announced including a new partnership with REED to allow AIA members to get information on projects in your area that could generate potential work for AIA members.  A new three year national Public Awareness campaign will be beginning soon to help promote Architects and Architecture.  Exciting things are happening at AIA, talk to your local AIA representatives to learn more or find out how you can get involved.
