AIA New Jersey Equity in Architecture Initiative is Looking for K-12 Presentations

The AIA NJ Equity in Architecture Committee is establishing a K-12 Electronic Reference Library.  We are looking for any member that may have a presentation, program or any reference document geared towards Kindergarten through 12th grade students.  The goal of the K12 initiative is to get our members to educate children about of the value of architecture with the hope of stimulating students’ interest in pursuing a career in architecture, increasing  diversity and raising the profile of women in our profession.  It also will instill in kids the value of good architecture and design.   All of this will be of great benefit to our profession.  Our intent is to make this database/library of information available for fellow members to reference or use to present to students.   So if you have a document or presentation please share it.   To do so please contact John Fallon, at jjf@fallonpacheco.com.

  1. Aric Gitomer says:

I have not but if I had I think it would be similar to any of the first year design studios’ first assignments that I discovered from around the world courtesy of generous professors sharing with me there experiences. I think these prompts are great for any age and will make you think! https://www.archdaily.com/…/a-glimpse-into-the-weird…

  2. I did a program at my Daughter’ kindergarten class about energy efficiency in building- was a lot of fun.

I did a similar activity about structural experimentation building bridges with spaghetti with a girl scout group.

    Will be happy to share
