The AIA New Jersey Legislative and Government Affairs Committee Announces Progress on Electronic Permit Processing

The AIA New Jersey Legislative and Government Affairs Committee (L&GA) has is pleased to share the news that Governor Murphy has signed Bill S1739/ A1145. The measure establishes the “Electronic Permit Processing Review System”, a web-based system for the electronic submission of applications for construction permits, plans and specifications pursuant to the “State Uniform Construction Code” for the electronic review and approval of applications, plans and specifications for the schedule of inspections, and the exchange of information between the applicant, the applicant’s professionals and the Department of Community Affairs or enforcing agency during the review process.

The AIA L&GA Committee, chaired by AIA NJ Regional Representative, Michael Hanrahan, AIA, and overseen by AIA NJ Executive Director, Joseph Simonetta, CAE, Hon. AIA, meets monthly to discuss legislative actions of interest to architects, related to the building industry, small business, or the health, safety, or welfare of the public. The committee and its lobbyists have been tracking and supporting Bill S1739/ A1145.
