All AIA NJ Members, Family and Friends are invited to form teams and Build LEGO Montclair! The program is set for Sunday morning, March 12, 2023, at the Montclair Art Museum. Please arrive at 9:30 for the pre-build presentation. The build will run from 10 am to 12 pm. The program is approved for 1.5 CEU by the AIA.

Each team must have 2-4 people and at least one Architect.  A team could be an Architect and 1-2 adult friends, partners, or co-workers; or an architect parent (or grandparent) and children. So, an all-adult team would be 2-3 people total. An adult and children team could be 2-4 people, ideally with 1-2 adults. Children should ideally be over 7 years old and prepared to focus on the task for 2 hours. 

 

In this program, each team will get a photo of a historical building in Montclair and they will have 1 hour and 45 minutes to build that building out of the 100,000 LEGO building blocks provided as part of the program. The goal is not creative LEGO design, but rather using LEGO to recreate the assigned historical building as closely as possible. The facilitator will roll out a 20 ft x 30 ft map of Montclair upon which the teams will locate their completed structures. An amazing 3-D aerial view of the city!

 

The cost to register is $15 per TEAM.   This is a super fun but very educational program that builds teamwork and awareness of architectural preservation.
