New Jersey Architecture Week: A well-deserved spotlight on YOUR profession
Now’s the time to start preparing to be enthusiastic about New Jersey Architecture Week!!
Here’s a fun fact: architecture is not only your job—it’s your passion. You eat, breathe, sleep, and dream about it.
With that in mind, the week of April 16-22 presents a tremendous opportunity to share our devotion to the profession that plays a central role in shaping how society functions, from A to Z.
Here’s how AIANS is celebrating Architecture Week:
1. We have organized an art exhibition at the main branch of the Montclair Library, opening April 5th, and running through April 28th.
Building the Future One Drawing at a Time will consist of drawings, photographs, and paintings by our Members AND Northern NJ area students who participated in our Winter Holiday Student Art Contest, and received certificates of achievement for their wonderful designs.
There will be an official reception on April 22, at the Montclair Library, from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
REMINDER: We are still accepting submissions from AIA Newark and Suburban Members to participate in the show!
We welcome 2D work of buildings, landscapes, abstracts, portraits, and really anything that you would like to show that is installation-ready (framed drawings or paintings) 8×10 or 11×14.
If you are unable to frame your own piece, we can place your work in a standard store-bought frame—where drawing abuts glass.
Send 1-3 jpegs of drawings, paintings, or photographs to Robert Epstein at firstname.lastname@example.org by March 20th. Physical work will need to be received by 3/28.
2. In conjunction with the art exhibition, Members of AIANS will conduct a book reading about architecture on Earth Day, April 22nd, from 10am to 12pm, at the Montclair Library’s auditorium.
This read-aloud will act as a fitting culmination of a week that celebrates the profession that endeavors to make the world (aka Earth!) a better place for generations to come.
3. AIANS is proud to sponsor the New Jersey Institute of Technology J. Robert and Barbara A. Hillier Design Showcase Gala!
Date: April 20th, 2023
Location: The Jewel Box, One Gateway Center, Newark, NJ 07102
Time: 6-8 p.m.
This event features the work by alumni and top Hillier College students of Architecture, Digital Design, Industrial Design, and Interior Design.
Thank you all for your commitment to the profession! It is inspiring and worth recognizing!
