AIA NJ Women in Architecture: End of Summer Social Hour
On Friday, September 27, 2024, the AIA New Jersey Women in Architecture Committee hosted a memorable “End of Summer Social Hour” at the elegant Stone House restaurant in Warren. The evening brought together new and familiar friends for a lively exchange of ideas, mentorship, and fellowship.
Attendees gathered at the indoor bar and intermittently enjoyed the outdoor terrace, despite spotty rain, serenaded by the sounds of the Bill Tally Band’s jazz music. The ambiance of the Stone House, inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural principles, offered a blend of steel, wood, and stone. Its charming lighting, cozy fire pit, and spacious patio provided the perfect setting for engaging conversations.
Guests enjoyed refreshments including gourmet pizzas, lobster rolls, and wine while fostering connections and reflections on the unique challenges women face in the profession. The exchange of experiences, advice, and support left attendees feeling empowered by the collective sense of unity and shared purpose.
Empowering Women in Architecture
The event underscored the Mission of the AIA New Jersey Women in Architecture Committee, which is dedicated to championing the role of women in architecture through community building, advocacy, and education. The Committee strives to
• Raise awareness about women’s contributions to the built environment and promote cultural understanding.
• Create a supportive networking hub that celebrates and elevates women’s achievements.
• Advocate for increased diversity and the advancement of women into leadership roles within the profession.
• Address and resolve issues affecting women architects.
The conversations throughout the evening reflected the strength of this mission, with attendees sharing insights on balancing family, career, and personal growth. The evening served as a reminder of the powerful impact of community and mentorship in fostering women’s success in architecture.
Looking Forward
As we look ahead, we remain committed to supporting one another and advancing personal growth through fellowship. AIA New Jersey Women in Architecture will continue to promote inclusion, diversity, and leadership opportunities within our community.
Thank you to all who participated and to all who support our Mission!
