On 26 February from 1200-1330, the New York City Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) will host a panel discussion titled “Satisfying Electric Power Demand with Nuclear Energy.” The session moderated by Lt. Colonel (retired) Joseph Porrovecchio (SAME NYCity Post, Chairman, Environmental Affairs and Advanced Technology Committee) will provide meaningful information and lead the discussion with panel participants Jim Saldarini (formerly Chief Nuclear Engineer, Bechtel), Joseph Costello (formerly VP Projects and Program Raytheon Nuclear), and Dr. John Mauro (NJ State Commissioner of Radiation Protection). Key points or learning objectives include (1) understanding the electrical demand, (2) how we satisfy this electricity demand, and (3) how the next generation of nuclear addresses satisfying this demand. Attending this session enables participants to earn 1.5 PDHs toward maintaining Professional Engineer licensure. The program is also being evaluated for a possible 1.5 GBCI CEUs and 1.5 AIA LUs.
