LOGO DESIGN COMPETITION

The AIA New Jersey Educational and Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (“Foundation”) invites students in any architecture program in New Jersey to participate in an open logo design competition to help establish the visual identity of the AIA New Jersey Educational and Scholarship Foundation.

About the Foundation

The Foundation was formed to foster and promote the profession of architecture through programming, education, and events that support and empower the next generation of the design community. Its mission includes providing tuition assistance for deserving New Jersey resident architecture students, as well as out-of-state students attending New Jersey schools of architecture. The Foundation endeavors to identify, promote, receive, and prudently manage private gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and associations, and to steward the assets entrusted to it by its donors.

    Competition Objective

    The Foundation is seeking a distinctive, professional, and timeless logo that reflects its mission, values, and relationship to AIA New Jersey, while also standing on its own as an independent organization from AIA New Jersey.

    Eligibility

    • The competition is open to all NJ residents actively enrolled in a 2025-2026 architecture program (in-state or out-of-state school) and all non-NJ residents who are actively enrolled in a 2025-2026 architecture program in New Jersey, including community college, four-year, 5-year and/or master’s programs. Programs such as Associates, Bachelors, or Masters Degrees are all acceptable qualifications.
    • There is no entry fee.

    Submission Requirements:

    Each submission must include:

      Logo Design

        • A digital copy of the proposed logo (both in full color and black/white versions) as a 300 DPI jpeg.

      Aspect Requirements:

        • Stacked/square logo would be 1:1 so 250px x 250px
        • Horizontal logo would be 3:1 so 600px × 200px

      Required Mockups

      • One mockup showing the logo applied to a Foundation letterhead design. (PDF format)
      • One additional logo application of the entrant’s choice (e.g., website header, social media graphic, signage, scholarship announcement, etc.). (PDF format)

      File Format

        • Finalists must provide vector files (AI, EPS, or SVG) as part of their submission.

      Submission

        • 2 Logo Jpegs (one color & one black/white)
        • 2 pdf’s of collateral examples
        • 1 native design files

      The winning design will be selected by the Foundation and may be refined in collaboration with the Foundation prior to final adoption.

      Ownership and Usage Rights

      By submitting a logo design, entrants acknowledge and agree that:

          • If selected as the winning entry, the logo becomes the exclusive property of the AIA New Jersey Educational and Scholarship Foundation, Inc.
          • The Foundation shall have the unrestricted, perpetual, and irrevocable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, display, and distribute the logo in any manner, media, or format it deems appropriate, without further compensation or approval.
          • The winning designer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless AIA-NJ from and against any claim by a third party alleging the infringement of the intellectual property rights of that third party.
          • The designer waives any claim to ownership, royalties, or future usage fees.
          • The Foundation may use the logo with or without attribution.

      General Conditions

          • Submissions must be original work and may not infringe on the intellectual property rights of any third party.
          • The Foundation reserves the right to reject any or all submissions and is not obligated to select a winner.
          • By entering, participants agree to all competition rules and conditions.
