Mistry Design welcomed students from Lenape Valley Regional High School to our Budd Lake, NJ office in November 2025. Architecture 101 and 201 students, led by Stacy Spencer, Supervisor of Instruction for Lenape Valley’s Science and STEM programs, visited to gain firsthand insight into how an architectural practice operates. Career exploration and job shadowing are part of the school’s CTE requirements, and this visit provided a valuable real-world experience.
The day began with introductions to the Mistry Design team, ranging from interns to senior staff. We shared the varied career paths that led each team member to their current role—an important perspective for students who are beginning to consider college and career options.
Our team presented a selection of projects and discussed our role in each, highlighting how we guide clients from initial concept through construction completion. We also explored how the architecture profession is rapidly evolving, particularly through advancements in technology and the growing implementation of AI.
Students then toured the office and had the opportunity to sit with staff members as they worked, observing day-to-day operations in action. While not all students plan to pursue a career in architecture, every group came prepared with thoughtful and engaging questions. They explored how an architectural firm operates from business fundamentals to design, education pathways, and real-world project insights.
If we can inspire even one student to consider a career in architecture, the experience is well worth it.
