NJIT and Kean Architecture Students with University and AIA Leaders
AIA New Jersey Hosts Colleges of Architecture for a Student Social at the AIA Newark and Suburban Design Awards Event
On Thursday, September 14, 2023, AIA Newark & Suburban hosted their annual Design Awards Program at The Highlawn’s iconic venue in West Orange overlooking the New York City skyline. The AIA New Jersey chapter was pleased to participate in this event by supporting the attendance of sixteen NJIT Hiller College of Architecture and KEAN Michael Graves College of Public Architecture students to network and socialize with some 100 architect members and sponsors in attendance.

Special thanks to Marvin Clawson, AIA, AIA NJ Board Member and College and University Liaison, for organizing the expanded student and member social engagement at this annual design event. In addition to the students, it was a pleasure to have Dean David Mohney, FAIA, of KEAN, and Architecture Chair Darius Sollohub, AIA, of NJIT in attendance along with faculty leaders from each of the two universities. AIA NJ President, Ron Weston, AIA, and EPiC Chair, Anna Chang, Assoc. AIA, were also in attendance along with other section and chapter leaders.
Congratulations to the students for their design submissions, and to the students who took home awards, in the AIA Newark & Suburban Design Awards student category. AIA New Jersey is pleased to support and collaborate with these two crucial home-state colleges of architecture as they educate and prepare the next generation of architects and designers.
As endorsed by the AIA NJ Executive Committee, this event was part of AIA New Jersey’s 2023 Architecture College and University student engagement initiative.
