About the Tour
Hobson College is Princeton University’s newest residential college, currently under construction and entering the final year of its three-year construction period. The project integrates living, learning, dining, and social spaces while meeting accessibility and sustainability standards.
The complex features interconnected buildings with a hybrid mass timber and concrete structural system. Exterior cladding is underway, and interior finishes began in early 2026.
Featuring an exposed mass timber structure, the top four floors house residential units, while the lower two levels, built with steel composite decks, accomodate gathering and support spaces. The high-performance facade blends brick, terracotta, stone, and glazing to create unique textures and reduce maintenance while aiming for LEED Gold certification.
This hard hat tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at an active construction site and will be led by Aaron Malnarick and Laura Carlson from Princeton University’s Office of Capital Projects.
