East Coast Green is the premier annual sustainability conference presented by the AIA New Jersey Committee on the Environment (COTE). Designed for architects, planners, and allied building professionals, the event focuses on green building techniques, climate resilience, and low-carbon design.
The AIA NJ East Coast Green 2026 virtual conference focuses on Designing for Sustainability. Held across two Fridays (July 10 and July 17, 2026), the event’s expert-led sessions explore practical tools, real-world case studies, and strategies to advance low-carbon, resilient, and equitable design in the built environment.
The curriculum is built around several core sustainability tracks and includes topics such as:
- Decarbonization & Climate Action: Net-zero and low-carbon design, operational and embodied carbon reduction, electrification, and life-cycle analysis.
- Resilience & Climate Adaptation: Designing structures and infrastructure to survive extreme weather, disaster preparedness, and long-term climate change.
- Equity, Inclusion & Environmental Justice: Sustainable design strategies that advance social equity, health, and community well-being.
- Circular Economy & Resource Efficiency: Adaptive reuse of existing buildings, material recycling, waste reduction, and designing flexible spaces.
- Sustainable Design Strategies: Proven, data-driven approaches and case studies that drastically improve the environmental performance of buildings, interiors, and communities.
- Health, Wellness & Sustainability: Strategies focused on enhancing human health and creating regenerative, ecosystem-integrated green infrastructure.
All sessions are educational and tailored to architects, planners, researchers, and allied professionals. Most courses are submitted for continuing education credits, including AIA Health, Safety, and Welfare (LU/HSW) and GBCI credits.
