Congratulations to AIA New Jersey Past President and Regional Director Michael Hanrahan, FAIA, on his Elevation to Fellowship
AIA New Jersey is so very excited to congratulate our newest Fellow, Michael Hanrahan, FAIA.
AIA Fellowship is one of the organization’s highest membership honors, and Fellows are recognized for their exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society. Fellowship is bestowed on members who made outstanding contributions to the profession through design excellence, contributions to the field of architectural education, or the advancement of the profession; and are elected through a rigorous process by a national jury of their peers. Less than 3% of AIA members hold the prestigious FAIA designation.
Michael’s work reflects his firm’s (Clarke Caton Hintz) long-standing commitment to the built, urban environment. Specifically, Michael is being recognized for advancing the profession through his work restoring nationally significant buildings and revitalizing communities through artful design, creative planning, and innovative financial strategies. In addition, his persistent advocacy for historic preservation safeguards our built heritage and enriches our collective future.
Just a handful of projects from Michael’s impressive portfolio: CCH Offices, Hoboken Public Library, Lambert Castle, Hinchliffe Stadium, Roebling Mansion, Roebling Lofts, Morven Museum and Gardens and Hunterdon County Courthouse.
Michael and all new Fellows will be honored at the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design (AIA25) in Boston, June 2025.
AIA New Jersey President, Andrew Thompson, AIA, NOMAC, LEED AP BD+C, enthusiastically shared his congratulatory remarks, “I have known Michael since I joined AIA Newark and Suburban back in 2012 and started to attend the State meetings. It was even more surprising when the County hired Clark Caton Hintz in 2018 for the restoration of Lambert Castle in Paterson, NJ, and we started a friendship. As we both lament about the long-suffering NY Jets or Michael would advise me on best practices for historic preservation and restoration, I have enjoyed his conversation and advice. I am so happy to see Michael get elevated to Fellow. After a 2 year drought with no one from AIA-NJ being elevated, this one makes an impact and says to our membership, ‘If you have accomplished enough in your career, you are worthy of becoming an AIA Fellow.'”
