AIA New Jersey Members Gather in Trenton for New Jersey Architects Advocacy Day

November 05, 2025

On Tuesday, October 28, the American Institute of Architects New Jersey members gathered in Trenton, NJ, for New Jersey Architect Advocacy Day — an important event co-sponsored by New Jersey Architects’ Political Action Committee and AIA New Jersey. Architects from across the state learned to advocate for the profession, engage directly with lawmakers, and elevate the voice of design in shaping public policy.

This impactful program was primarily presented by AIA NJ Executive Director and Lobbyist Matthew Halpin, with the support of AIA NJ Past President Brian Penschow, AIA; AIA NJ Past President and NJ APAC Chair David DelVecchio, AIA, and AIA NJ Past President and Public Awareness Consultant, Stacey Ruhle Kliesch, AIA.

Events like these empower architects to engage in meaningful dialogue with state legislators, champion the built environment, and influence the laws and regulations that shape New Jersey’s communities.

The program included an in-depth legislative briefing on AIA New Jersey’s current advocacy agenda and key policy issues affecting the profession—including licensure, climate resilience, housing, procurement, and building codes followed by a private tour of the State House.

This free member benefit was made possible by the sponsorship of NJ APAC.
