Advocating for policies that protect the profession, support the built environment, and empower architects to shape the future.

The New Jersey Architects Political Action Committee (NJ Architects PAC) is the dedicated voice of architects in the political arena. As the advocacy arm of AIA New Jersey, the PAC plays a crucial role in supporting candidates and legislation that promote the architectural profession, protect the built environment, and advance policies that foster sustainable and responsible development.

Why NJ Architects PAC?

The Business of Architecture is Shaped by Government

Architecture is deeply influenced by state law. New Jersey’s regulations determine who can practice architecture and the business relationships architects can form. To maintain the integrity and qualifications of our profession, we need a strong legislative presence in Trenton. NJ Architects PAC ensures that our profession is well-represented, advocating for fair procurement processes, laws that support the architectural industry, and increased understanding of how policy decisions impact architecture. NJ Architects PAC helps elect public officials who are committed to the goals and interests of the architectural community.

Elections Require Resources

No matter how much campaign finance reform evolves, the reality remains: elections cost money. Political Action Committees (PACs) like NJ Architects PAC allow architects to pool their resources and support candidates who align with our professional interests. PACs level the playing field, ensuring that candidates who understand and support architectural issues have the financial backing they need to win. Contributions to NJ Architects PAC help elect officials who advocate for architects, based on their track record of supporting architectural causes and their relationship with the architectural community.

An Investment in Your Professional Future

Contributing to NJ Architects PAC is more than just supporting a cause—it’s an investment in your practice. The PAC ensures that architects’ voices are heard on critical issues like the Interior Designers Certification Act and other legislation affecting our work. New Jersey’s legislature is currently considering numerous bills that will impact architectural practice, from project delivery methods to business and procurement laws. Your contribution strengthens our influence, helping elect candidates who understand and support the needs of architects.

Strengthen the Architect’s Voice

Whether advocating for pro-architecture candidates or clarifying policy proposals, NJ Architects PAC is the most effective way to protect and promote the profession. Your contribution makes a significant impact, helping safeguard the future of architecture in New Jersey. A contribution is included with AIA membership dues, but additional contributions are welcome and highly encouraged. Contributions can be made as personal or corporate donations, up to $5,000, in accordance with New Jersey law.

Who Governs NJ Architects PAC?

NJ Architects PAC is governed by an independent Executive Committee and Board of Trustees, initially appointed by AIA New Jersey leadership, and managed by AIA New Jersey staff. Membership is open to all, not limited to AIA members, with future officers and trustees elected by eligible voting members. Become an APAC member today and make a difference.

Levels of Giving

To become a voting member, an annual contribution of at least $50 is required. As an active member, there are opportunities to represent APAC at political fundraisers. Your contributions directly support the candidates and causes that affect our profession, and as a member, you’re encouraged to recommend political candidates for PAC support.
