AIA New Jersey Code & Regulations Committee
Navigating Codes. Supporting Practice. Advancing Safety.
The AIA New Jersey Code & Regulations Committee serves as a vital resource for architects across the state by tracking, interpreting, and advocating on building codes, standards, and regulatory issues that impact the practice of architecture in New Jersey.
Our work ensures that AIA NJ members are informed and equipped to design safe, code-compliant buildings that meet the evolving needs of our communities—while also representing the profession in important conversations with regulatory bodies and agencies.
What We Do
Monitor Code Changes
Stay up to date on proposed and adopted changes to the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code (UCC), IBC, IECC, ADA, and other relevant regulations.
Advocate for the Profession
Represent the architectural community in discussions with state agencies, code officials, and legislators to promote reasonable, performance-based codes that support good design and public safety.
Provide Guidance
Offer clarity and resources to help AIA members understand complex code requirements, including emerging topics like energy efficiency, accessibility, and climate resilience.
Collaborate Regionally and Nationally
Work with AIA National, neighboring state chapters, and allied professional organizations to share insights, influence policy, and align best practices.
What We Do
Codes and regulations are the foundation of safe, healthy, and sustainable environments. The AIA NJ Code & Regulations Committee helps ensure architects are not only compliant but also proactive contributors to shaping a better-built future. Our collective voice strengthens the profession’s role in public health, safety, and welfare.
