May 2 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Join the AIA – NJ Committee on the Environment for a tour at Focus Lighting – an award-winning Architectural Lighting Design Firm based in New York City.

1.5 LUs
Curious about the impact of lighting in your built space and the lighting design process? Take a tour of the Focus Lighting office, one of the first LEED-certified buildings in Harlem. A demonstration will take place in the Lighting Lab, where Focus Lighting will show you the best-performing energy-efficient LEDs, and teach you that seeing is believing: you will learn the importance of testing, not just at a computer, but in your own hands with bulbs and finish samples. You will learn how LEDs are advertised compared to their actual performance, and how dimming systems can bring out the worst in some LED fixtures, as well as best practices to avoid this. Finally, we will perform a “layers of light” demonstration where you will learn about lighting composition, how dimming systems can be used to change the perception of a space over time, and how to make people look and feel great through lighting.

Free to attend, but space is limited, register today.
