The History of AIA New Jersey 125 years: Part 1 (1895-1940s)

April 7 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Join the AIA NJ Historical Archives Committee for the first installment of a special three-part webinar series celebrating AIA New Jersey’s 125th Anniversary. Presented by the AIA NJ Historical Archives Committee, this session delves into the organization’s early history—from its founding in 1895 as the New Jersey Society of Architects (NJSA) to the post-war era of the 1940s.

Through a rich collection of historical newspaper articles, photographs, newsletters, and personal memorabilia, we will uncover the origins of AIA New Jersey and its role in shaping the architectural profession in the state. The webinar will highlight the NJSA’s early advocacy efforts, including political lobbying, the contributions of influential architects, and the push for the establishment of a New Jersey School of Architecture. Additionally, we will explore the formation of the NJSA’s regional sections and their impact on the profession.

This webinar is open to all, especially those with a passion for history, architecture, and the legacy of AIA New Jersey. Don’t miss this opportunity to journey through the fascinating past of our organization!
