The Holidays Student Art Contest
Do you find architecture interesting? Do any places or buildings inspire you? Do you think about how architecture and design influences our every day life? Do you like to draw or make art?
To celebrate the “The Holidays” the American Institute of Architects (AIA) of the Newark & Suburban area would like to see what places you like and find interesting!
What: An art and drawing contest | Prizes totaling up to $500
Ages: From 6th through 12th grade | Prizes awarded to two age groups: 6-8 and 9-12
Requirements:
- Create a drawing or a piece of art in any medium, or submit a design of your own (e.g. line drawing, paint, 3D, collage, montage)
- The work must feature or have as a main focus a building
- The submission must have a feeling, a setting, a group of buildings or a place defined by architecture, or be inspired by one of our upcoming holidays
- Submissions by individuals only
- Include a brief description (up to 100 words)
Format: Single image, pdf, or jpeg
Submit: Via our online form or by downloading PDF form below and emailing it back to us along with your image!
Please note: If submitting your entry via email instead of the online form, ensure the photo/scan of your form is clear, close-up, and that all the written information is easily readable (avoid cursive if possible).
Deadline is December 5, 2025, 11:59PM!
