The Restoration and Adaptive Reuse of Two Iconic Airport Terminals
Join us on Thursday, June 25, from 6–9 PM for General Meeting #3, featuring special guest speaker Richard Southwick, FAIA, Partner Emeritus at Beyer Blinder Belle. He will present on The Restoration and Adaptive Reuse of Two Iconic Airport Terminals.
Dinner and open bar!
Two of the country’s most significant airport structures, the pre-war 1935 art deco Newark Airport Administration Building and the post-war modernist 1962 TWA Flight Center at JFK Airport, both sat vacant for decades prior to their revitalization. This is the story of their historic significance, their decline into obsolescence, and the subsequent campaigns to find new aviation uses and ultimately avoid demolition.
