Designing for Resilience: Community-Centered Housing, Climate, and Social Infrastructure
1 HSW The AIA New Jersey Technology in Architectural Practice (TAP) Committee serves as a resource for AIA members, the profession, and the public on the evolving role of technology in architectural practice and design. As part of this mission, TAP is delighted to present a webinar featuring Hilary Sample, FAIA, Principal of MOS Architects, New York. As cities and communities face mounting environmental, social, and economic pressures, architecture has an increasingly vital role to play in shaping healthier, more connected, and more resilient places to live. In this engaging lecture, Hilary Sample, FAIA, will explore how housing, educational environments, and public space can work together to strengthen communities while responding to climate, culture, and changing patterns of daily life. Throughout the webinar, Hilary will examine how adaptable housing models, climate-responsive design strategies, passive environmental systems, and thoughtful urban interventions can support occupant wellness, affordability, accessibility, and long-term neighborhood vitality. From stormwater management and pedestrian circulation to the integration of landscape, local materials, and social infrastructure, this lecture will highlight the power of architecture to create spaces that are both environmentally responsive and deeply rooted in community identity.
