Attendees will gain practical insight into choosing and applying the right strategies for effective draining and drying across a range of exterior wall assemblies.

With many years of experience in the building industry, Rich brings deep technical knowledge and a passion for high-performance building practices to his work with architects, builders, and contractors. At Benjamin Obdyke, Richard specializes in the building science field, with a focus on water and air management solutions that meet the evolving demands of durability, sustainability, and code compliance. His work includes providing project-specific guidance, educational presentations, and product training tailored to the architectural and building community. Richard regularly collaborates with AIA chapters, architectural firms, and industry organizations to deliver AIA-accredited continuing education sessions. His engaging and informative presentations help design professionals stay at the forefront of best practices in building envelope design and detailing.

 

This session explores the role of component cladding and engineering, reviews real-world structural mullion solutions—from factory to field assembly—and compares varying levels of shop drawings, from basic elevations to detailed performance and installation requirements.

Dave Wheeler is an Architectural Consultant with Sierra Pacific Windows and has been in the fenestration industry for over 30 years.  His current role has him covering the Northeastern United States as well as Eastern Canada. Dave has a passion for historical restoration projects, high performance glazing, and large expanses of glass. In his free time, Dave enjoys working on his own home improvement projects and spending time outdoors.
