Keynote Speaker: Illya Azaroff, FAIA, 2026 AIA National President
This is a special opportunity to hear from the national leader of AIA and gain insight into the state of the profession and the important issues impacting architects today.
Illya Azaroff, FAIA, is founding principal of +lab Architect in New York and Los Angeles and professor at New York City College of Technology (CUNY). An architect and geographer, his work advances resilient and regenerative design to support underserved communities. He co-founded the Kalinago Institute for Global Resilience and Regeneration in Dominica and was recognized as a 2023 Star of Oceana for contributions in the Pacific and Caribbean. With over three decades of global practice including recent efforts in Moldova and Türkiye, Azaroff is recognized for leadership in climate strategies, disaster mitigation, and hazard planning, and currently serves as 2026 AIA National President and member of the AIA National Board of Directors.

- 1:00 – 2:00 pm: Seminars
- 2:00 – 3:30 pm: Exhibition floor with hors d’oeuvres (free delicacies for AIANS and ALNNJ members)
- 3:30 – 4:30 pm: Additional seminars
- 4:30 – 6:00 pm: Exhibition floor with food and drink ticket (free for AIANS and ALNNJ members)
- 6:15 – 7:15 pm: Keynote presentation
- 7:30 – 9:00 pm: Networking and Happy Hour

The Architects League of Northern New Jersey and Newark and Suburban Architects are the two northern-most Sections of AIA New Jersey. Together, they represent over 1,200 architect and associate members across Sussex, Passaic, Bergen, Hudson, Essex, Union, Morris, and Warren counties. EXPO ’26 is a key event for our community to connect, learn, and engage with industry partners.
