Course Description (1 LU)
Between 1642 and 1825, Northern New Jersey and Southern New York became a hub for Dutch and European vernacular building methods, producing agrarian, ecclesiastical, industrial, and residential structures. This lecture explores how these early building techniques influenced the architecture of the region and how preservation efforts today ensure the legacy of these historic structures. Participants will gain insight into both the technical construction aspects and the cultural significance of the Jersey Dutch House type, seeing how historic architecture continues to inform modern practice.
125th Anniversary Highlight (0.5 LU)
In celebration of AIA New Jersey’s 125th anniversary, we’ll take a moment to highlight the leadership journeys of ALNNJ members who have served as AIA-NJ State Presidents, sharing stories and insights from their time guiding the profession.
