AIA Upjohn Grant Recipient Deane Evans, FAIA, Presents Work on GEBs

Under an AIA Upjohn Research grant, Deane Evans, FAIA, Executive Director of the NJIT Center for Building Knowledge (NJIT CBK) is currently completing work on an educational program designed to introduce a new and rapidly evolving building typology – Grid-Interactive Efficient Buildings (GEBs) to practicing architects.

The GEB’s initiative – spearheaded by the US Department of Energy – envisions a future in which buildings operate dynamically with the electrical grid and continuously interact with and optimize distributed energy resources.  The educational program NJIT CBK is developing explores what GEB’s are and what they may mean for practicing architects and the buildings they design.

AIA New Jersey COTE convenes a Focus Group to review the educational program he has developed and provide feedback.  Responses from this focus group will help inform the final configuration of the educational program and will also form part of a set of recommendations that he will make to AIA National and presentation at a related A’23 session he is presenting in San Francisco this June.

Please look for Director Evans’ program when you are registering for A’23.
