AIA Jersey Shore Immediate Past President Brian W. Penschow, AIA, NCARB, Recognized by Young Architect for Outstanding Leadership Qualities

August 23 – 25th the 2019 Young Architect Conference was held in Portland, Oregon. YA/ YAC Founder Michael Riscica, AIA, presented 6 awards to recipients who were selected based on their outstanding leadership qualities and their contributions to helping Emerging Professionals.
AIA Jersey Shore Immediate Past President and conference attendee Brian W. Penschow, AIA, NCARB, was called out of the audience and recognized by YA for outstanding leadership in the category of mentorship.
According to Riscica, “A good leader is someone who is willing to share their experience to help build up others.  Brian is this guy. He is always showing up for others. He commits his time and drives all over NYC, NJ and Westchester to help support the next generation of Architects.   He doesn’t sit around waiting for mentees to find him; he is out proactively seeking them.”
YA Business Manager Joanna LaBounty offered the following, “Brian is such an awesome human being.  I am so happy he is getting the recognition he deserves.”

Colleagues from AIA NJ consider Penschow to be a critically influential member of the organization. Brian is active in legislative and government affairs, equity/ diversity and inclusion, custom residential architects’ network and small firm exchange, public affairs, and New Jersey’s Architects’ PAC, the political action committee that fosters relationships between architects and legislators. Brian is a practicing architect in New Jersey. “I am deeply honored by this award. I don’t do any of this for the recognition. I do it to make the profession better,” says Brian.

Brian has also been a presenter for YA. You can view his podcast HERE
