Christopher offered the following remarks to the League Members:
“First off, I would like to thank everyone for the opportunity and honor to serve the AIA Architects League of Northern New Jersey as President in 2021. I am really thrilled to take on this responsibility.
COVID-19 is tragic, unprecedented and unforgettable. It continues to impact our communities, the architectural profession and the Architects League of Northern New Jersey in ways we never could have guessed. Although we all disliked having to cancel many of the League’s traditional in person activities, sometimes, necessity is the mother of invention and I think at the end of the day, we did a pretty good job of coming up with some fun new events like the Kids challenges and online zoom meetings with continuing education opportunities.
As President in 2021, I am looking forward to safely guiding us back to in person meetings and events. As of right now we are planning and hoping to resume some in person activities in either April or more likely, May with social distancing and all of the proper safety precautions in place.
Hopefully the Leagues traditional events like Ted Kessler walking tours, dinner meetings, the trade show and our golf classic will all be able to take place in person. I know I am looking forward to seeing all of my AIA colleagues and friends this spring and it will be here before we know it.
Thank you to Todd Hause, AIA for putting together this fun and educational evening for all of us to enjoy. Although we would have loved to have our typical in person installation banquet filled with drinks, dancing and celebrating, tonight’s event is still pretty cool.
Mike Hanrahan, AIA thanks for taking the time to be here tonight to discharge the 2020 Officers and Trustees and for installing the 2021 Officers and Trustees. A big thank you to our 2020 Architects League of Northern NJ President Matt Fink, AIA for doing such an excellent job of shepherding the League through a challenging 2020.
I would like to thank both our outgoing and incoming Officers and Trustees for your time, talent and all of the effort you have put it and will continue put in, ensuring that the League continues to be one of the top sections of AIA in both New Jersey and the country.
Congratulations in advance to all of our award winners. The achievements of our members are definitely impressive, and these awards are so well deserved. Although we have been physically distant for most of 2020, these awards highlight only a small portion of the incredible amount of effort that was put in by our Architects League of Northern NJ members.
Finally, and most importantly, I would like to thank all of the AIA Architects League of Northern New Jersey members for being here tonight to celebrate. This includes all of our highly valued allied members and sponsors and of course our upcoming Associate members. Everyone’s continued membership and support of the AIA and the Architects League of Northern NJ is so very much appreciated, especially during challenging times like these.”
Christopher received a B.S. in Architecture from the University of Maryland prior to being awarded both M. Arch and M.S. Civil Engineering graduate degrees from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Mr. Henrickson first joined the AIA in 2004, has been a Trustee of the Architects League of Northern New Jersey since 2018 and is currently serving as the League’s President in 2021. The League’s new President is a staff architect at Perry M. Petrillo Architects in Park Ridge, NJ where he has worked since 2010 and has broad experience and expertise in large-scale commercial and retail projects.
Christopher lives with his wife Caitlin and daughter Mary in Westwood. When not hard at work at Perry M. Petrillo Architects or advancing the cause of the architectural profession at the Architects League of Northern New Jersey, he enjoys spending his time outdoors fly fishing and advocating for conservation and environmental issues.
Christopher A. Henrickson, AIA, congratulations and THANK YOU for your service!
