LAN Associates, a full-service engineering, planning, architecture, and surveying firm based in Midland Park, NJ, was recognized for their outstanding efforts in the community service industry as they received the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey’s (CIANJ) “Champion of Good Works” award for the firm’s year-round commitment to giving back. The firm was founded in 1965, and has since expanded to include offices in Goshen, NY, and Philadelphia, PA.
The principals are committed to providing volunteer and community service efforts that further benefit its communities and the environment. One of the greatest ways that LAN has been able to give back is to encourage and support its staff to participate in their own communities and professional service organizations.
“All of the projects we are involved in have an impact on the community,” said Kenneth Karle, AIA, President of LAN Associates. “Our communities help shape who we are as a professional service firm, and we take pride in being a support to them.”
As experts in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry, LAN teams with Habitat for Humanity to provide designs and construction documents for new construction and renovation projects. Volunteers including James Diana, AIA; Matt Milnamow, AIA; Vlad Potiyevsky, AIA; attend the annual week-long Habitat Builder’s Blitz. In the spring, LAN employees including Kim Vierheilig, AIA; Matthew Fink, AIA; volunteer at the annual Philadelphia Spring Clean Up and the Sussex County Trail Clean Up to further develop community parks and recreations. For the past 10 years, LAN has partnered with Community Blood Services to host quarterly blood drives, donating more than 250 pints of blood to date! During Fire Prevention Week each October, LAN partners with a local school district to educate students on the importance of fire safety and preparedness. Since its inception in 1965, LAN’s philosophy to give has stemmed from a desire to better the community.
“Businesses who serve their communities and give back, like LAN Associates, are a driving force for good,” said Anthony Russo, President of the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey. “Companies like LAN Associates embody CIANJ’s mission to make New Jersey a better place to live, work and raise a family.”
The 5th annual Companies that Care banquet was held on March 20th, at Nanina’s in the Park in Belleville, NJ. In partnership with COMMERCE, CIANJ holds the award banquet to honor corporate philanthropy. Awards were given out in various categories including helping children, caring for veterans, feeding the hungry, environmental conservation, and emergency support.
AIA New Jersey applauds the accomplishments of our members and all of the associates at LAN. Supporting our neighbors and their communities is one of the greatest ways of giving back.
