Reading Time: 3 minutesOn Tuesday, May 8th, 2018 at the AIA New Jersey Board Meeting at the Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth, New Jersey, AIA New Jersey Regional Representative Bruce D. Turner, AIA, installed two members in good standing to new positions on the executive board. Steven B. Lazarus, AIA, is now the First Vice President, stepping up from Treasurer. Matthew Pultorak, AIA, of BLT Architects in Philadelphia, has replaced Steve as Treasurer. Each term expires at the end of the year.
Steve is looking forward to his new position and offered these comments, “I have big shoes to fill from my predecessors, Verity Frizzell and Judy Donnelly. I honored and thrilled to be appointed to the position of First Vice President. Many years have gone by and to this day I still love looking and experiencing architecture. Trying to educate the public as to what we do, helping my fellow architect in promoting AIA, assisting in professional development, and trying to convince non-AIA members to the benefits of being in the AIA. As First Vice President, I will serve as an advisor and assistant to the president and work in partnership with her. I am her right hand, her sounding board and whatever else the president will need to make her time in office the most productive and knowledgeable. I humbly say thank you and once again honored to be your First Vice President.”
This was Steven’s second year as treasurer of AIANJ, he currently sits on the board of the Architects League of Northern New Jersey and is a past president of that organization. Steven is one of the founding principals at Axis Architectural Group, graduated from Cornell University School of Architecture in 1982, one of the country’s leading architectural schools. As principal, he provides leadership and direction for all of the staff. His professional skills and excellent design ability are evident in the diversity of successful projects and repeat clients. Mr. Lazarus’ responsibilities focus on business development and management, marketing, initial project programming, and design. Mr. Lazarus is also successful at maintaining the strength of the firm’s finances and to ensure a positive, high-quality environment for the staff. He believes the strength of the firm is a compilation of all the people who work within it. Mr. Lazarus has been a registered architect since 1986. He is a member in good standing with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and has licenses to practice architecture. Mr. Lazarus is also a licensed Professional Planner in the State of New Jersey. All of these skills and talents contribute to Steve’s potential success as First Vice President of AIA New Jersey.
Congratulations and thank you to Steven and Matthew!
