Reading Time: < 1 minuteAt the recent A’18 Convention in New York City, the Institute voted to implement the New Urban Agenda in the Architectural Profession.Â
This resolution proposed that the AIA commit to support the goals and principles of the United Nations’ New Urban Agenda, Sustainable Development Goals, and Paris Agreement on Climate Change. It also advocated that the Institute encourage and support its component network and members with leadership training and continuing education; educate the public and construction industry about the relevance of the architectural profession; act and collaborate in partnership with other professional and industry organizations and international authorities; and, in 2021, prepare and publish an assessment of the progress made in the architectural profession in the United States and internationally.

AIA New Jersey knows that while this may be new to some of our colleagues, the principals and commitments of the New Urban Agenda are some that many of us have been striving for for decades. We’d love to share your stories!
If you have an interesting project that would be considered aligning with the goals of the new urban agenda, please prepare a brief article and send it along with some photos to staceykliesch@gmail.com for consideration by the AIA NJ Public Awareness Committee for publication.
We thank you for your time and effort to share the message of your progressive practice.
