Presents Design for Industry and Distribution in a Post Pandemic Era

The AIA NJ Public Awareness Committee is hosting a series of free webinars for elected officials, municipal staff, developers, business owners, facility managers, operators, and users to assist them in understanding facility design changes that can be anticipated in our post-pandemic era. Each webinar will focus on a different building/ business type and feature a panel of architects experienced in that sector. The series is developed and moderated by Stacey Ruhle Kliesch, AIA, CID, LEEP AP.

The next webinar in the series is Design for Industry and Distribution in a Post Pandemic Era, a free member benefit being offered on Thursday, April 29th, 12:00 – 1:30 PM. This course has been submitted to AIA National for Continuing Education Credit. Click HERE to register.

This webinar will explore how trends that have accelerated as a result of COVID-19 will impact design for industry and distribution in the post-pandemic era. Trends discussed will include increased perception of industrial facilities as workplaces and the exponential trajectory of eCommerce, with a deep dive into food eCommerce and micro fulfillment. The session will then explore the design response to these trends, articulated through project examples and concepts across three main areas: urban and mixed-use development, integration of wellness, and emphasis on green industry. Altogether, this webinar aims to provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of trends impacting the future of industry and distribution and innovative ways design can respond.

Learning Objectives:

1. Health: Upon completion, participants will be able to recognize the relationship between emotional, psychological and physical well-being and the foundations of a holistic, healthy building approach.

2. Safety: Participants will be able to compare the benefits of systems and controls used to increase the health and safety of building occupants and how these systems may be integrated into their buildings.

3. Welfare: Participants will be able to articulate approaches to refine, operate and manage healthy buildings as well as key healthy building strategies for buildings that enable equitable access, elevate the human experience, encourage social interaction, and benefit the environment.

4. Participants will be able to identify industrial and distribution trends that have accelerated in response to COVID-19 and what design constraints must be considered to respond to these trends for both current and future needs.
