New Law Regarding Professional Liability Insurance In New Jersey

Attention NJ Licensed Architects:

A953 was just signed into law on January 18th.  The measure requires architects to disclose the type of professional liability insurance carried by the architect to any party to a contract. The disclosure must be made before the parties enter into an agreement for services. Consider including that information with your proposal if you ask the client to sign it as a letter agreement.

Additionally, any architect entering into a public contract for architectural services must carry errors and omissions insurance.

The bill can be found HERE

Next, the agency in charge will promulgate regulations that align with the legislative intent.
