Dear AIA New Jersey Members,
I’m teaching a special course at my alma mater, St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark, NJ, introducing high school students to the architectural profession. I will have a class of about 10-15 students. I want my students to interview architects about pursuing our profession. I’m calling for local architects that would like to be interviewed. Below are samples of some questions the students may ask:
What do you do?
What does your typical workday look like?
Why did you want to be an architect?
Where did you go to school?
What has been the most challenging part about being an architect?
What’s your favorite or most rewarding part about being an architect?
What advice would you give someone who’s thinking about becoming an architect?
The questions could be asked by phone or email. A phone call is more personable and preferable, but an email would be an option if needed for some. So, I would need local architects to provide their contact info to me for the students to use. I would be asking my students to do their interviews between 5/09/2022 – 5/20/2022.
Please let me know if you would be interested in helping my students. E-mail me directly at
bj_kurus@yahoo.com .
I appreciate any help! If you need any more info from me please let me know.
Sincerely,
B.J. Kurus, AIA, LEED AP
