She has built a reputation for designing beautiful and well-functioning places and spaces of diverse building types, focusing on downtown buildings that revitalize their communities. Nancy is widely respected for her design acumen, technical expertise, and finesse in shepherding projects through the Land Use approvals process. A passionate researcher on the history of each site, Nancy is also laser-focused on the critical details of each project, resulting in unwavering confidence and trust among her clients.

A graduate of Barnard College with a Master’s in Architecture from Columbia University, Nancy is licensed in multiple states. NJBIZ has recognized her as one of the top 50 Women in Business. Recent projects include the redevelopment of a prominent site in Flemington, NJ, and mixed-use / multi-family housing projects in Bernardsville, Jersey City, Millburn, Morristown, and Summit.
In addition to mixed-use and multi-family projects, Studio 1200 provides architectural and interior design services across various asset classes, including corporate interiors, single-family residential, civic spaces, educational institutions, hospitality, and a large variety of retail spaces. Founded in 2005, Nancy and her business partner, Sandee Markwith, were recognized by ROI-NJ in 2022 as Top Influencers in Real Estate Design and Building. The firm has also won multiple design awards, including six AIA Newark and Suburban Awards and six IIDA awards. Studio 1200 is a certified Women’s Business Enterprise and Small Business Enterprise and is certified by the NJ Sustainable Business Registry for practicing sustainable policies and practices.
Nancy is particularly proud of her work for civic organizations, including JESPY House, The Door, Jersey City Veteran’s Housing, The YMCE, and Greenwood Gardens. She is also devoted to mentoring students and young architects, often meeting with them to discuss the field of architecture and giving career advice. Additionally, through her many workshops, Nancy has introduced architectural concepts to over 1,500 students of all ages. She has also developed a long-standing relationship with NJIT’s architecture program and has established an internship program at Studio 1200 so students can get hands-on experience.
Nancy’s dedication to community extends well beyond architecture. She co-chairs the Residential Committee for the South Orange / Maplewood Coalition on Race. It recently launched its Wealth Gap Equalizer Loan Program for black and non-white Hispanic first-time homeowners. She is also on the Executive Committee and Strategic Planning team for Greenwood Gardens, a treasured 28-acre public garden located in Short Hills. She was an inaugural member of Impact 100 Garden State and recently became a sponsor for SparkNJ. This non-profit financially supports northern NJ’s black-led charitable, community, and civic organizations. She has also been a Big Sister through Big Brothers Big Sisters for many years and loves exploring the built environment with her “Little,” Trinity.
