Hosted at the office of AIA CNJ member Martin A. Desapio, AIA, in Flemington, and guided by Taylor Latimer, NJ NOMA President, and Erin Sharp-Newton, AIA CNJ President, this event offers a unique opportunity for members of both organizations and allied professionals statewide to connect, exchange ideas, and cultivate relationships. AIA Central NJ, a section of the American Institute of Architects, was established in 1923 and is committed to promoting architecture and design through education, community engagement, public outreach, advocacy, member services, and professional excellence. AIA CNJ’s mission is to uphold its legacy and uplift and support its members through their professional development. Additionally, AIA CNJ strives to communicate the value and role of architects in building better communities and to elevate, promote, and safeguard the integrity of the architecture profession. NJ NOMA was founded in 1971 to promote diversity within the architecture profession and the urban community. Since 2010, NJ NOMA has been dedicated to enhancing the profession by promoting diversity in practice and actively participating in the education of aspiring designers. NJ NOMA’s mission is to foster communication and fellowship among minority architects, educate and promote the profession of architecture in the community, and advocate against discrimination of minority architects within the profession. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) have a partnership that includes supporting action to combat systemic racism in architecture.
