New Jersey Architects Political Action Committee Attends Event for Assembly Minority Leader John DiMaio

The New Jersey Architects Political Action Committee (NJAPAC) kicked off 2022 by attending an in-person event for Assembly Minority Leader, John DiMaio. Vice-chair Stacey Ruhle Kliesch, AIA, attended the event as the representative for the organization. She had the opportunity to speak with many elected officials and introduce specifics about our industry and ways that we can be constructive partners on initiatives of mutual interest.

The NJAPAC supports candidates and elected officials on both sides of the aisle that support the goals of AIA. John DiMaio has been an assemblyman since 2009, serving as minority leader since January 2022. Previously he was co-conference leader from 2019 to 2021 and a budget officer from 2018 to 2019.

First elected to public office at age 23, DiMaio was a Hackettstown councilman from 1980 to 1990, mayor from 1991 to 1999, and president of the N.J. Conference of Mayors in 1999. He was also a Warren County freeholder from 2000 to 2009, serving as director twice. He is also the owner of A. DiMaio and Son Inc., a general contracting business.

Strengthen the Architects Voice

Member NJAPAC contributions help not only to promote issues important to our profession but also help to increase the effect of the architect’s voice in issues that can have a negative impact. Currently, the New Jersey Legislative is considering a host of bills that will affect the architectural profession- from legislation supporting the Livable Communities agenda to project delivery, professional practice, business and procurement issues. Whether the goal is to elect good candidates to political office or to clarify a constitutional amendment proposal to a registered voter, participation in NJAPAC is the most effective way to promote and protect the architectural profession. 

NJAPAC is governed by an independent Executive Committee and Board of Trustees initially appointed by the leadership of AIANJ and is administered by the AIANJ staff in accordance with New Jersey state law.
